Bob Sheffield

AgustaWestland Senior Advisor for Safety & Fleet Operational Improvements

Bob Sheffield graduated Mississippi State University in 1972 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and a commission as a United States Air Force officer. He spent almost ten years in the USAF flying a variety of fighter aircraft including the F-4 Phantom, the F-5E Tiger II and the Mig-21.

Bob then worked for over 30 years in various Shell companies in nearly all aspects of oil and gas exploration and production, including managing logistics operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.  During this time he obtained Masters Degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Business Administration (MBA).  As Managing Director of Shell Aircraft from 2004 until retirement in 2012, Bob was responsible for air transportation safety throughout Shell’s operations, including its corporate fleet, more than 90 aircraft chartered to support Shell’s operations worldwide, and global airline risk management.

Bob has since joined AgustaWestland as Senior Advisor for Safety & Fleet Operational Improvements.

Bob remains on the Executive Committee for the International Helicopter Safety Team, which is working with global stakeholders to eliminate helicopter accidents.  In recognition of his work for the IHST, the Flight Safety Foundation presented Bob with its Laura Taber Barbour Air Safety Award for 2012.
